Nowadays, making videos on various entertainment applications is very much in trend. One of the most prevalent entertainment apps is YouTube, that is now also being used for business purposes at large.
People enjoy making new videos and getting it viewed by a plethora of subscribers.
All they want is to increase their popularity and/or monetize it. However, sometimes, due to various personal or general reasons, they just wish to delete their accounts.
The reasons may be that the app is consuming much time or that they just want to start over a new account altogether.
Whatever may be the reason, if you do not want to continue with your YouTube account, you are left with two options - one is that you can hide your account and all your comments, name of your channel, your uploaded videos, subscribers and subscriptions, community posts, likes, comments, etc. will become invisible to the public at large and certainly even to your subscribers.
Second, if you are sure that you won’t be using the account again, you can delete the account permanently. Whatever the option you choose, i.e., to hide or delete your YouTube account, it is a few steps away.
The only thing which needs to be considered here is that there is a bit of a different procedure for deleting the account using your phone and using the computer.
How to temporarily hide your YouTube account?
If you wish to go with temporarily hiding your account, there will still be an option of re-enabling the same. Temporarily hiding your account hides all other things from the public apart from your comments and replies which get permanently deleted.
If you want impermanent changes with your account, just follow the steps:
- 1If you want to hide the account using a computer, then make sure you have signed in to your YouTube channel, with the channel that you want to temporarily hide.
- 2There you see, ‘advanced account settings’ option. Select that.
- 3After selecting an advanced setting, all you have to do is to choose the 'delete account' option given at the bottom of the page you have opened. Choosing this option will not directly delete your account. Rather you will be redirected to a new page.
- 4You will see two options. One is to delete your account permanently, and the other is to hide your account temporarily.
- 5Before selecting an option, you will be asked about your login credentials so that no other person can hack or delete your account. Just enter the correct login details as you are supposed to, being the owner of the account.
- 6After this, to hide your account, just choose 'I want to hide my account' or 'I want to hide my content'.
- 7You will be provided with certain boxes to choose what all you choose to hide. Just select the boxes you want to hide.
- 8Confirm your action, and you are done.
How to delete YouTube channel using computer?
You might be aware of the consequences that permanently deleting your account holds. Once you delete your YouTube account permanently, all your videos, comments, subscriptions, subscribers, messages, playlists, contents, history, watch later saved videos, etc. will be gone forever.
Even then, if you are sure about your action, you just have to follow some simple steps:
- 1To delete your account permanently, log in your YouTube account on your desktop using the account channel that you want to delete.
- 2Go to the ‘advanced account setting’ option on the page.
- 3On that page, choose the option written ‘delete the channel’.
- 4You will be required to log in to your account, to make sure that it is the owner who is logging in and since the information is sensitive, you will have to log in with the correct login credentials.
- 5After you are done logging in, select the option saying ‘I want to permanently delete my channel’ or ‘I want to permanently delete my content’.
- 6Now, all you have to do is to confirm in the boxes what all you want to delete.
- 7Once you are done confirming the boxes you want to delete, select the option ‘delete my account’.
- 8You are done. Your account is now permanently deleted.

How to delete YouTube Channel on phone?
To delete the YouTube account in the mobile app, it is not required to log in with your account again, unlike the one you have to do with the browser. To delete your account permanently using mobile, follow the following steps:
- 1Go to the YouTube app on your mobile. Now head towards the user account shown in an icon on the page.
- 2You will be provided with a list of options, just select ‘Manage your account’ option.
- 3List Once you enter the managing option, go to the ‘account preferences’ option.
- 4Select the line 'Delete Google Services'.
- 5To confirm that your account is not logged in by some other person, you have to log in once again to confirm that it is the owner of the account who wants to delete the account. Verify the account.
- 6After that, go to the icon showing trash which is there in front of the YouTube icon. Here you might have to sign in to the account again to verify the account.
- 7Then, choose the list written ‘I want to permanently delete my content’. Here only, in case you change your mind and do not want to delete it permanently but temporarily, you can choose the option ‘I want to hide my channel’ option.
- 8If you have opted for the deletion of the account permanently, confirm the boxes in front of you to select what all you want to delete.
- 9Tap on ‘delete my account’ and you are done.
How to re-enable the hidden YouTube account?
In case you want to reactivate the account you have hidden before, you can easily do that using simple steps as following:
- 1You will have to sign in to your YouTube account.
- 2You will find an option with ‘create a channel’. Just select it, and you will be directed to a form.
- 3You need to fill that form for restoring the account. At this stage, you have to be cautioned to not select 'use a business' or 'other name' since it will lead you to create a new account instead of restoring your previous account.
- 4Once you are done with re-activating your YouTube account, you would be provided with the option of making your videos visible to the public in Video Manager.
Even if you have permanently deleted your YouTube account, as long as you have a Google account, your Youtube account is still there; you just delete all the content and data.
To remove every sign of your account, you will have to delete the whole Google account altogether. Otherwise, deleting the app is sufficient.
