Dark Mode is a system-wide transformational setting available to the users of Google Chrome. This is effective in conserving your phone’s battery life and is less strenuous to the eyes.

However, this does not change the setting of all the websites you access or change the display. It is only reflective when you open the Google Chrome home-screen and the websites toolbar on display in Chrome.

How to Enable Dark Mode in Chrome

For Android Users

Android has been undergoing system changes that have enabled users to experience the dark theme option. For example, with the Android Lollipop release, the HOLO UI version gave users access to greyish backgrounds with blue accents.

This in-built background change will be even easier with the launch of highly anticipated Android Q options. Since Google has started experimenting with dark mode across its apps, Chrome is the first phase.

The Android 5 and above users can experience this amazing dark screen feature. All you have to do is follow the steps to enable this option:

How to Enable Dark Mode in Google Chrome

For Computer Users

The dark mode feature is accessible on Mac OS 10.14 and above & Windows 10 and above. To utilize this feature:

For MAC Users

  • For Light: Use the light appearance. 
  • For Dark: Use the dark appearance.

    There is another feature called “Auto Option” available on macOS Catalina whereby- The system automatically changes the features using light appearance during the day and dark appearance at night.

    Also, Google Chrome’s Force Dark Mode option is accessible on Mac computers in Smart Invert Option. This is found under Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Smart Invert.

For Windows Users
