4 what are the different mobile os?

Some mobile operating system are open source software it means you can develop your own apps (software)

Android OS (Google Inc.)

Android is a mobile os developed by Google Inc. and OHA based on Linux kernel developed primarily for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. It is most popular OS till date powered by Linux kernel prevalent on most mobile devices.

Interestingly initially android was used to develop an advanced operating system for the digital camera though when it was realized that market is not large enough for the camera they diverted their efforts for making smartphone operating system.

Android platform is currently dominating the industry. It was launched in September 2008 by the name of Astro then upgraded versions bender and cupcake came out. But post this updates Google used it as a trend of naming android versions after any desserts or sweets in alphabetical order.Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Icecream sandwich, Jellybean, KitKat or Lollipop Marshmallow and now Nougat– these are current updated versions of Android OS

Android has an active community of developers and tech geeks who use the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) source code to develop and distribute their own modified versions of the operating system. These Open source community-developed releases bring updates and new versions faster than official releases.

Many new features which enhance its adaptability and productivity has made its best mobile operating system and popular. Android has released official google play store from where you can download thousands of apps from your android devices. Many devices such as Samsung, Motorola, HTC etc using android OS.

iOS (Apple Inc.)

iOS is a special mobile os developed by Apple Inc. iOS was first launched in July 2007. It is specially developed and designed for apple devices such as iPhone, iPad, iPod etc. It’s mostly popular because of its design and very user-friendly interface. (add image)

iOS doesn’t let you use it with other devices such as third party systems. So you can only use it with apple products like iPhone, iPad, iPod etc. It provides safari web browser for internet usage. Apple’s mail for mail access and dedicated iPod application for playing music, however, iOS also provides app store similar to google play store to download various applications ranging from guitar tutorials to dance learning.

Comparison between Android and iOS

Android Vs iOS

Pros of Android

  • Android is a free software, Which gives you anything like songs, etc for free
  • They are no limitations in android
  • Android can be user-friendly, That is we can change the launcher, Icon, Etc of our choice which we like
  • Android phones do not get updates easily
  • Android version become older as it gets years

  • Android can be hacked easily
  • Android can get malware’s
  • Android phones do not receive updates

Pros of iOS

  • iOs is the most secure software
  • All the apps first release in iOs then Android
  • iOS is good for developers
  • iOs encrypts everything
  • It gets updates regularly

  • The persons who are using iOS should be rich,
  • It is not user-friendly
  • It’s not free, Music, etc

Windows mobile OS developed by Microsoft Inc. Although we all are well familiar with Windows OS because it is extensively used in our computers and laptops.

But Once it’s software fell behind iOS and android they redesigned and launched an improved version of mobile OS  in 2010, which greater emphasis was on user experience and design.

It comes with internet explorer for web access and let you club your all photos from different sources at one destination which allows you to save your facebook photos in your personal gallery.

Windows phone are very simple, slick and very modern.

Stable, I never had a dropped calls or crashed apps and it also brings innovative software features (some of the features in not included neither in android nor in iOS).

But windows phone has got less number of apps when I installed default apps then realized that I am getting less than half of apps provided by android and iOS.

Every social networking apps are there in Windows. Every major productivity apps are there in Windows. If you’re looking out for some heavy gaming you would be disappointed.

But I don’t know why developers always prefer to use android even beginners .?

(Some popular but discontinued mobile OS)

2000 – Symbian becomes the first modern mobile OS on a smartphone with the launch of the Ericsson R380.(add image)

The Symbian platform was developed by Nokia for some models of smartphones. It is proprietary software of Nokia. some of you will get me if I say Symbian is unlike other popular mobile os is not open source. It means that this software is owned by Nokia and any other company needs to take permission from Nokia before using this operating system. The operating system was discontinued in 2012, although you must have noticed slimmed-down version for basic phones was still developed until July 2014. Microsoft officially decided not to proceed with the platform in favor of Windows Phone after its acquisition of Nokia.

Research In Motion’s Blackberry

BlackBerry OS is a proprietary mobile operating system developed by BlackBerry Limited in 1999.

The BlackBerry platform is perhaps best known for its native support for corporate email, through Java Micro Edition MIDP 1.0

Third-party developers can write software using the available BlackBerry API classes

BlackBerry OS was discontinued after the release of BlackBerry 10 in 2011 although BlackBerry has assured of its continued support to BlackBerry OS.

Pick apt mobile os for your need?

It’s not about which OS is the best, but rather which OS is the best for you. We all have different needs and usage habits. I grew up tinkering with PCs and love having control over every aspect of my devices, and Android is flexible enough to accommodate my affinity for tweaking settings frequently. If we talk about security then you must admit that of the three most popular mobile OS windows OS is least used mobile OS  of the three, which makes it favorable among three as it less targeted and make it more secure. Moreover, it’s security model is quite restrictive so as far as security is concerned I feel windows mobile os are a winner.
